I wasn't alive during Gerald Ford's administration, so I can't really say much about his death. Therefore, instead of writing a long, politically charged eulogy for a man I know almost nothing about, I'll just link to this article in Slate, which provides probably the most interesting perspective on Ford's presidency that I've heard so far this week: You may choose, if you wish, to parrot the line that Watergate was a "long national nightmare," but some of us found it rather exhilarating to see a criminal president successfully investigated and exposed and discredited. And we do not think it in the least bit nightmarish that the Constitution says that such a man is not above the law. Your thoughts? Technorati Tags: Gerald Ford, Iraq |
